Modernism

Neither high nor low,
But twixt.
Heaven does not exist,
Nor nether world.
Mind, reason only,
Supernatural denied.

Nature our God,
And science only truth.
We will worldly power,
Thru physics and biology.

Mastering nature, not self.
In striving, disquieted.
Seeking pleasure, happiness lost.
Knowledge sought,
Truth denied.

Man atoms only
Disconnected, distrusting.
Our paradigm, earth all,
Comprehending
Neither life nor death.
